This "team" that is so "adept at selling" is a bunch of people Osprey has hired to staff their non-unionized call centres. They get part-time hours, low wages and no benefits. They are disembodied voices at the end of a phone line who know little about an established newspaper's relationship with the community it serves. Anecdotal evidence suggests that readers and advertisers very much dislike being forced to navigate a computerized phone gauntlet, only to wind up speaking with a stranger in a faraway city. |
