President of Ottawa Local new Canada East VP

Lois Kirkup, a long-time Guild activist at both the Local and national levels, is stepping up to the international tier with her acclamation at the sector conference to the position of TNG-CWA Eastern Canada Vice-President.

Kirkup, president of the Ottawa Newspaper Guild and a member of the TNG Canada/CWA executive (Secretary), was "excited about the prospect of filling this position," when she sought the nomination in May. "My many years of experience will be an asset to the executive of The Newspaper Guild-CWA and my style of leadership will bring a different perspective to its meetings."

Kirkup, a librarian at The Ottawa Citizen, has been involved with the Ottawa Newspaper Guild since 1995. She was elected its president in 1999.
