Guild organizing employees at VisionTV

Canadian Media Guild | TNG Canada Local 30213

The Canadian Media Guild has applied to represent approximately 45 people at specialty channels VisionTV and One: the Body, Mind and Spirit Channel.

The CMG filed an application for certification today with the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

"We're honoured that employees of VisionTV have made this important step towards being represented by the Guild," says Lise Lareau, national president of the CMG. "We welcome them and look forward to working together."

"We hope this brings about a new and positive relationship between VisionTV and its employees. This began out of concern about the way jobs are evaluated at VisionTV but it turned into more than that. People want respect — respect for their work and their contribution," says Bruce May, Guild organizer.

It's expected to take several weeks for the CIRB to consider the certification application. The Guild will be holding a membership meeting in mid-August to discuss the next steps in the process.
