Soup Kitchen manager Calna McGoldrick was thrilled: "This is great! It's nice to know that local people remember us with their raffle draws and that visitors to our city are so generous."

Those visitors were the delegates to the mid-April meeting of the TNG Canada/CWA National Representative Council in Sault Ste. Marie, who came up with $186 for the Soup Kitchen.

As for the "local" people to whom McGoldrick referred, that would be the Sault Ste. Marie Typographical Union.

Vice-president Elaine Mills said the Local had a few items to raffle off and thought that local charity should benefit from the fun-filled event.

"The Sault's soup kitchen is a worthy cause and we know the much-needed money would stay in the community for the local needy," Mills said.

Almost 50 delegates converged on Sault Ste. Marie for the spring conference from April 16 to 18. The fall conference is to be held in October in Montreal.
